514loans is a Canadian loan-matching service based in Montreal. We are not a lender. We take one application and put it in front of a network of partner lenders, and a lender that accepts it deals with you directly from that point on.
This page explains how that works, who ends up with your information, and how we are paid — because those are the three things worth knowing before you submit an application to anyone, and they are rarely stated plainly in this industry.
What we do, and what we do not do
| We do | We do not |
|---|---|
| Take your application once | Lend money |
| Match it to partner lenders | Decide whether you are approved |
| Explain what lenders look for | Set your rate or fees |
| Answer questions about the process | Hold your agreement or take your payments |
If you are approved, your agreement is with the partner lender — not with 514loans. They set the rate within the range described on this site, they take the payments, and they handle anything that changes during the term.
There is no single lender behind this
Applications go to a network of lenders rather than to one company. That matters for a practical reason: different lenders weigh things differently, so an application one declines another may accept. Sending it to several is the whole point of the service, and it is why you fill in one form rather than five.
It also means we cannot tell you in advance which lender you will end up with, or promise a particular rate. What we can tell you is what the network as a whole looks at, which is set out on our bad credit loans page.
How we are paid
Partner lenders pay us for the applications we send them. You do not pay 514loans anything — there is no fee to apply, and nothing is added to your loan for using this service.
Being paid by lenders is worth stating openly, because it is the thing that could bias a service like this. Two consequences are worth naming:
- We benefit when you apply, which is why everything on this site should be read as coming from an interested party. We have tried to write the cost pages so the numbers are checkable rather than persuasive — the worked examples are arithmetic you can verify.
- We do not benefit from you borrowing more than you need, or from you borrowing at all when something else would serve you better. Where an installment loan is the wrong tool, we say so on the installment loans page, and point to credit consolidation or to non-profit credit counselling instead.
Who receives your information
Your application does not stay with us. It goes to the company that hosts our application form, then to partner lenders so they can decide whether to make an offer, and your banking verification goes to the provider that performs it.
The full list, with what each party receives, is on our privacy policy. In short:
- Intelligent Lending Solutions hosts the application form
- Partner lenders receive the application itself
- Inverite, Decision Logic and Microbilt perform Internet Banking Verification, which is how income is confirmed without a credit check
- Interac e-Transfer, EFT Canada and Versapay handle payment rails
If you would rather your information was not shared with partner lenders, the answer is not to submit an application — that sharing is the service, and it cannot be separated from it.
Why there is no credit check
Partner lenders verify income through a read-only connection to your bank account instead of pulling your file from Equifax or TransUnion. Applying therefore creates no hard inquiry and has no effect on your credit score.
This is not generosity. A bank record is simply a better predictor of whether the next payment will clear than a score describing how someone handled credit years ago — and it is the reason applicants who have been declined elsewhere are sometimes accepted here.
Where we are
We keep an office in Montreal and answer the phone during business hours.
514loans 225 Rue Chabanel O #1004 Montreal, QC H2N 2C9
+1 844-508-2274 · [email protected] Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. Closed weekends.
A partner lender may contact you outside those hours; they keep their own schedule.
Our French-language site is prets514.com, which offers the same service in Quebec.
What we lend against, in numbers
| Amounts | $300 to $3,000 |
| Term | 90 to 120 days |
| APR | 22% to 32%, set by the partner lender |
| Credit check | None — Internet Banking Verification instead |
| Cost to apply | Nothing |
Every cost figure published on this site is derived from those terms rather than asserted, and is re-checked automatically whenever the site is rebuilt. If a worked example ever stops agreeing with the advertised rate, the build fails.
Questions
Is 514loans a lender?
No. We match applications to partner lenders. If you are approved, your agreement, your payments and your rate are all with the lender — not with us.
Do you charge anything?
No. Partner lenders pay us for the applications we send them. There is no fee to apply and nothing is added to your loan for using this service.
Which lender will I get?
We cannot say in advance. Applications go to a network, and the lender that accepts yours will contact you directly.
Will applying affect my credit score?
No. There is no credit check, so there is no hard inquiry on your Equifax or TransUnion file.
I already have a loan — where do I manage it?
Sign in to the client portal to see your balance and payment schedule. Anything that changes the agreement itself is handled by the lender that provided the loan.
Can I speak to someone?
Yes — +1 844-508-2274, Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm, or [email protected]. For anything about a loan that has already started, contact the lender that provided it; they hold the agreement.
